VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Four Mounties accused of lying made a brief appearance in court this morning.
Constables Bill Bentley, Kwesi Millington, Gerry Rundel and Corporal Monty Robinson were involved in the death of Robert Dziekanski at YVR back in 2007. They’re accused of lying while giving testimony at the inquiry into Dziekanski’s death.
A special prosecutor recommended perjury charges against each officer in May.
Dziekanski was shocked with a Taser several times during a confrontation with police. First, the RCMP said Dziekanski was violent and uncooperative. Video shot by a spectator at the airport seemed to contradict that version of events.
The case has been put over to August 31st.
