Vancouver’s mayor wants to make City Hall a living wage employer

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson has asked staff to look into a minimum wage for workers that would meet the requirements of the Vancouver-based Living Wage Campaign, which says it takes two incomes of $20.68 an hour to support a family of four in the city.
Robertson says in such an expensive place, it’s important for City Hall to show leadership to hopefully lead as an example in the business community.
He notes 20 per cent of families in Vancouver are unable to make an income that meets its basic needs, even with two full-time working parents.
