Goldobin gets the winner in his debut as Canucks down Kings

LOS ANGELES, CA (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks ended their four-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Kings.

Vancouver struck first when Sven Baertschi banged a rebound past Ben Bishop from in close just over 11 minutes into the game.

The Canucks doubled their lead with less than a minute to go in the opening period. Captain Henrik Sedin came out of the penalty box and his pass deflected off Kings defenseman Drew Doughty and into the net.

The Kings bad luck continued in the second.

Bo Horvat’s shot was stopped by Bishop, but the rebound hit Baertschi, caromed of LA defenseman Nic Dowd and into the net giving Vancouver a 3-0 lead.

Things got even better for the Canucks later in the period. Newly acquired Nikolay Goldobin scored a beauty on a breakaway in his first game in a Vancouver uniform putting the game out of reach.

Anze Kopitar, Trevor Lewis, and Alec Martinez scored to make things interesting, but Vancouver hung on.

Ryan Miller was sharp making 41 saves for the win.

The Canucks wrap up their three-game road trip tomorrow against Ryan Kesler and the Anaheim Ducks.
