SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Just days into 2019 and Mounties in Surrey are already looking into their first call of shots fired this year.
Investigators say it appears a home was targeted in Guildford Tuesday evening.
The RCMP was called to the area of 115A Avenue near 136 Street around 6:40 p.m. When they arrived, officers say there was evidence confirming gunfire.
Initial reports suggest a dark coloured SUV was seen driving away from the area with its headlights off. A short time later, Mounties say three people were detained after the same vehicle was found.
According to the RCMP, one of the three people has been released while two men, one in his 40s and the other in his 30s, remain in custody.
The Honda CR-V SUV has been seized while the investigation continues.
The RCMP won’t say if the three people are familiar with the house on 115A Avenue, or anyone who lives there.
No one was hurt and while a motive has not yet been released, Mounties say this appears to be a targeted incident.
According to the Surrey RCMP, there were 38 shots fired incidents in that city last year — 36 per cent less than the year before and 57 per cent less since 2015.
If you have any information about this incident or happened to have witnessed a dark SUV leaving the area in question, you’re asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604.599.0502 or Crime Stoppers and quote file #2019-000878.
