Thieves steal shipment of money from Mexico airport tarmac

MEXICO CITY — Authorities in central Mexico are investigating a brazen robbery inside an airport in the state of Guanajuato.

A state official who was not authorized to be quoted by name said Thursday the robbery occurred the night before on the tarmac at the state’s international airport.

The thieves stole a shipment of money being transported on baggage carts to be loaded onto a waiting airplane.

The official said it was not clear how many thieves participated in the crime or how much money they got.
