Carson Crimeni honoured with jersey at Langley Sportsplex

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) — The jersey of a Langley teen who died from an overdose last summer is now hanging in the Langley Sportsplex, where he once played hockey.

Family and friends of 14-year-old Carson Crimeni gathered at the site on Friday, many emotional as the jersey was hung.

Carson’s grandfather Darrell Crimeni says while his grandson’s death still crushes him, he’s hoping the jersey will be a reminder of the effects of bullying.

He also says he hopes those who visit the Sportsplex will draw inspiration by seeing the framed jersey.

Carson died at a popular skate park in August, after a suspected drug overdose.

Before Carson died, he was filmed in growing distress and agitation while some in the background mocked him and laughed.

His death drew widespread condemnation after a video of Carson’s overdose was spread online.

The video was posted on social media, and his body was found hours later.
