Vancouver strip club reopening following COVID-19 outbreak

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A Vancouver strip club that was the site of a COVID-19 outbreak is now reopening, despite multiple visitors testing positive for the virus last week.

Brandi’s Exotic Show Lounge in Downtown Vancouver was closed down to address concerns brought up by Vancouver Coastal Health.

In a social media post on Monday, the club says it has undergone a thorough inspection and complete review of all protocols by Vancouver Coastal Health and has been cleared to reopen.

“After a thorough inspection and a complete review of all protocols by Vancouver Coastal Health, we have been cleared for a safe reopen,” the Instagram post reads.

“We have worked with VCH closely to ensure that we meet the necessary guidelines for sanitation. The club has been fully sanitized, and we have added more protocols to keep our guests and staff safe.”

Monday afternoon Dr. Bonnie Henry mentioned the COVID-19 exposure at the strip club during her provincial health update.

“This is why we have those little things like taking a contact number for at least one person in the party in a restaurant or an event. So that it makes it easier for us to know who is there and who was potentially exposed, so that we can protect people,” she said.

Henry told reporters she is concerned.

“We have not yet seen transmission from this event, but it’s very possible.”

Anyone who visited the club between June 21 and June 24 between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. is being asked to monitor themselves for possible symptoms. At least three people have tested positive from this event.

Anyone who starts showing symptoms is asked to call 8-1-1 or public health officials for testing.
