PORT MOODY (NEWS 1130) — It’s been nearly six weeks since Trina Hunt disappeared. Family and friends of the Port Moody woman say they aren’t giving up hope, and are now fundraising to continue the search.
Hunt, 48, was last seen Jan. 18 at her home around 6 a.m. Her husband reported her missing later that day when he returned home from work. Police, search and rescue crews, and community volunteers launched an extensive search in the immediate aftermath of Hunt’s disappearance. The homicide team has said the case does not meet its mandate which is to “investigate suspicious missing person cases where foul play is suspected.”
A GoFundMe was launched this weekend with a goal of raising $20,000 to hire private search and rescue teams, to pay for ads to raise awareness, and to feed volunteer search crews.
“Trina is a loved daughter, wife, sister, auntie, cousin, niece and friend. She is missed beyond measure and we want nothing more than to have her home with us. Her loved ones deserve answers, and we are hoping that through donations, we will be able to find the answers,” the page reads.
Any money raised that is not used will be donated to Coquitlam Search and Rescue and other non-profits.

Meanwhile, a banner is set to be unfurled at the Rocky Point Overpass on Monday at 10 a.m., and a statement on behalf of Hunt’s family will be read.
“We do not have any news to share, and will defer all questions regarding the investigation,” reads a Facebook post.
“Our message is loud and clear: we are not giving up hope. We are doing absolutely everything that we can to find answers and bring Trina home.”
Hunt was last thought to be wearing a puffy black North Face branded jacket with a teal green collar and purple running shoes.
If you have any information about her whereabouts, you’re asked to contact Port Moody police at (604) 461-3456.
