The province has now surpassed 1,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations, and 19 people passed away from the virus over the weekend.
According to Monday’s update, there are 1,048 people hospitalized, 138 of whom are in the ICU. Of the people who died, eight were in Interior Health, six in Vancouver Coastal, three in Island Health, and two in Fraser Health.
There have been eight new health-care facility outbreaks, totaling 58 ongoing outbreaks in the province’s long-term, acute care and assisted living facilities. Details are available online.
The province announced there are 4,075 new infections confirmed, bringing the total active cases to 27,454. Fraser Health accounts for more than a quarter of the recorded new cases. However, very few people are eligible for testing, so the number of confirmed cases does not reflect the number of actual cases.
