Vancouver’s 21st Fashion Week launches this Thursday, and organizers say the show is “almost” back to a pre-pandemic setting.
The event will return to full capacity for the first time since the pandemic began. In the last Spring/Summer showing, it was limited to 50 per cent capacity.
Vancouver Fashion Week’s Media Coordinator, Erin Hodson says this year’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection has a lot of hype surrounding it.
“We have designers attending from all around the world, which was really difficult to do last year or even the year in 2020. The designers that are attending from different countries are from Japan, Korea, France, Poland, like everywhere,” said Hodson.

She expects the audience to see some fascinating collections, considering they haven’t had many events in the past couple of years due to COVID-19.
“Some to look out for are definitely CoCo-Paloma from Mexico, we have some coming from Victoria, and the Island. Some Aboriginal designers coming from Nanaimo and Nunavut, which is going to be really exciting to see.”

Not everything will be as it was before the pandemic, however. Some designers still won’t be able to attend due to the pandemic and lockdowns in their home countries. Hodson says they will have their collections flown into Vancouver for the show.
To put a cherry on top, Hodson says to keep an eye out for some local celebrities and influencers who will be in attendance. You will be able to see cast members from shows filmed in Vancouver, like The Flash and Riverdale, in the front row of some shows, as well as on the VIP stage.
This Vancouver Fashion Week runs from April 7 to 10.
