GPS tags have saved many people’s luggage from the abyss of airports over the last little while, but one has also helped recover a person’s stolen bike in North Vancouver last week.
On Nov. 5, a man was able to map the location of his stolen bike using a locator tag, North Vancouver RCMP says.
The bike, which according to the man had been stolen from an underground parking lot, was mapped to West Esplanade and Lonsdale Avenue.

Mounties say the man went to the parking lot and waited for officers to arrive.
“When officers arrived at the location, they encountered two men associated to a vehicle with several bikes in the back. The victim claimed one of the bikes was his. When officers attempted to arrest the suspects, one of the suspects ran, initiating a foot pursuit,” Const. Mansoor Sahak of NVRCMP said.
According to police, they arrested the suspect a short distance away.
Officers were also able to seize several other items believed to be stolen.
