2 years after Trina Hunt vanished, search for answer continues
Her disappearance and death shook the Lower Mainland.
Loved ones of Trina Hunt are marking a sombre anniversary Wednesday as it’s been two years since she vanished. Her family has taken to social media and admits it’s been an incredibly difficult journey so far with “never-ending waves of grief, anguish, and trauma repeatedly engulfing us.”
“Nothing about our path has been simple. We so wish Trina knew of all the support that has embraced her these past 2 years. Trina would be humbled, a little bashful (truthfully, a lot!) but would also be ever so appreciative of all the love. We continue to thank you for the ongoing positive comments and support. Your kindness has truly helped us cope,” Hunt’s brother Brad Ibbott said.

Last summer, the family renewed its $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or charges in this case.
Port Moody Mayor Meghan Lahti, who once helped search for Hunt soon after her disappearance, says the community is very close-knit and she, like Hunt’s family, continues to hold on to hope someone will be held responsible.
“Everyone was quite shocked and rattled by the news a couple of years ago when Trina Hunt went missing, and I think the community at large has been pretty devastated by the outcome. It showed me how close this community is and how when there’s a need, the community will come together to try and assist,” she said.
Hunt was reported missing on Jan. 18, 2021, and her remains were found roughly two months later in Hope, but that information wasn’t released publically until May.

“Since the discovery was made, the community really pulled together. The community has taken a very active role in their desire to see justice for Trina,” adds Lahti. “My desire, and I think the desire of the police that are investigating, this is to find a conclusion… and a resolution to this and to bring justice for Trina. Trina is not forgotten. I think about her often and I know many people in the community do as well.”
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says it has dedicated officers working on this file. It won’t reveal how many investigators but continues asking that anyone who hasn’t yet spoken to them, to reach out.
