A Vancouver Park Board commissioner is apologizing for engaging with a series of recent controversial tweets about the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
ABC Vancouver commissioner Angela Haer was called out by several Twitter users after she liked a number of tweets, including one from Elon Musk that implied 2SLGTBQ+ allies, among other groups, were “brainwashed.”
In her apology on Twitter, Haer says she recognizes the negative impact of her behaviour and offers her “sincere apologies” to the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
“Its (sic) with the purest heart and mind I forward my sincere apologies to the #2SLGBTQIA community for my disappointing reaction by liking earlier posts. I recognize the negative impact this behaviour has had. It was never my intention to hurt anyone in our beautiful & diverse city,” her tweet reads.

ABC Party President Stephen Molnar released a statement addressing Haer’s actions on Twitter.
“Through two tweets posted yesterday, Commissioner Haer has apologized for her previous Twitter likes and has publicly committed to further engagement with members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. ABC Vancouver remains fully committed to the highest standards of equity, diversity and inclusion,” the statement reads.
Haer adds she will “work directly with the community to address this issue to further the cause of equity, diversity, and inclusion.”
