Richmond homicide: woman, teen found dead in home

A teenage girl and a woman in her 40s have been identified as the two people found dead in Richmond, homicide investigators say.

A teenage girl and a woman in her 40s have been identified as the two people found dead in Richmond, homicide investigators say.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says officers responded to a home on Barnard Drive near the Terra Nova Housing Co-Operative on Monday, finding the bodies of a 14-year-old girl and a 43-year-old woman. Police say the two victims were related.

IHIT says so far, investigators believe this was an isolated incident, adding no suspects are being sought.

“The effects of this tragedy are being felt by the entire community,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “Anyone in need of assistance is encouraged to call the Richmond RCMP’s Victim Services.”

Homicide investigators will work with the Richmond RCMP, the RCMP Forensic Identification Service, and the BC Coroners Service.
