A man who was wanted B.C.-wide in connection with an assault on an elderly man in Chinatown last fall has been arrested, police say.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says 52-year-old Henry Paul Wiens was arrested downtown early Saturday morning.

He had been wanted province-wide since Feb.15, when police issued an arrest warrant for assault causing bodily harm in connection with an incident in October.

According to police, a 93-year-old man was taken to the hospital with a broken hip after he was pushed to the ground while walking in Chinatown near Main and East Pender Streets on Oct. 11.

At the time, police revealed surveillance footage of the assault in an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

On Monday, officers said the suspect is now back in jail.
