Charges laid after home invasion in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside

Vancouver police say charges have been laid following a home invasion in the Downtown Eastside.

According to the VPD, two men reportedly forced themselves into a 60-year-old man’s suite in the area of East Hastings Street and Gore Avenue on July 5.

Police say the victim was “violently” beaten, adding various items were stolen from his home.

The man was taken to the hospital.

The VPD says Steven Flett, 37, and Dustin Gastl, 40, have both been charged with break and enter, robbery, unlawful confinement, assault causing bodily harm, and possession of a weapon.

Both suspects remain in custody.
