Arrests made after Surrey stabbings near SkyTrain leave 3 hurt: police

Transit police in Surrey say three men have been arrested after an alleged unprovoked attack left three people hurt in June.

According to the Metro Vancouver Transit Police, officers were called to the area near the Surrey Central SkyTrain Station just before 9 p.m. on June 21.

Investigators say one person was stabbed in the back, while another was stabbed in the chest.

Police say a third person was “struck in the head with an object and bear sprayed in the face.”

All three were taken to hospital, and police say they have since recovered physically from their injuries.

Following the incident, three people were arrested. Police say charges including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession for the purposed of trafficking, will be recommended to Crown Council for approval.

As part of their investigation, police say on July 5, officers searched a home in Surrey and found a variety of items, including:

  • Four guns, some with illegal modification
  • Improvised explosive device
  • Ammunition
  • Ammunition press
  • Bulletproof body armor
  • Illicit drugs
  • About $10,000 in cash

“We hope that the outcomes in this case serve to demonstrate that anyone responsible for violence on or near the transit system will be held accountable,” Const. Amanda Steed said.

The three suspects have been released with conditions, until their next court appearance.
