B.C. truck company’s suspension lifted after North Van overpass crash

A B.C. trucking company has been issued violation tickets but is no longer suspended after one of its vehicles hit an overpass in North Vancouver earlier this month.

The province’s Bridge Strikes Data page shows the suspension for Whistler 99 Courier and Freightways Corporation was lifted Wednesday.

It also says the province has confirmed an action plan has been implemented to avoid similar incidents in the future.

According to the B.C. government, the “carrier/driver” didn’t have a permit when the truck hit the Main Street overpass, shutting Highway 1 down for several hours, on Sept. 19.

The North Vancouver RCMP previously said the driver of the truck had “fled the scene of the accident,” and that the registered owner of the company the truck belongs to “was issued a failure to remain at the scene of an accident violation ticket.”

This incident marked just one of many this year in which overpasses were hit by trucks.
