Video shows man narrowly avoid being hit by truck on Port Mann

Video footage from November 29 shows a cement truck narrowly missing a man who was walking on the Port Mann Bridge between Surrey and Coquitlam.

Shocking video is being shared online, showing a man narrowly avoid being hit by a cement truck on the Port Mann Bridge.

The BC RCMP tells CityNews the near-miss “apparently occurred” on Nov. 29, just after 1 p.m.

The video shows a man in the middle of the westbound lanes of the bridge walking away from a pick-up that was stalled in one of the right lanes. There is thick fog in the area, and the man, pick-up, and trailer are hard to see until the dash-cam gets close.

The man is seen dodging a large cement truck as that vehicle starts to swerve around him, with the man also then almost being hit by the truck and trailer he was initially seemingly walking away from.

Footage from a Tesla that caught the jaw-dropping moments then captures the man from another angle, this time showing him standing at the side of a median raising his arms in what appears to be disbelief.

Moments after the cement truck strikes the pick up and trailer, traffic is brought to a stop as debris covers the roadway.

While the BC RCMP confirmed reports of the incident, it has deferred to BC Highway Patrol for more information.

CityNews has reached out for additional details.
