Inmate dies at Pacific Institution in Abbotsford

An inmate at a prison in Abbotsford has died, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) says.

Mike Andrew Arcand, who had been serving a six-year sentence for discharging a firearm with intent and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose since 2019, died on Thursday.

The service says his next of kin has been notified.

The CSC says that in all cases involving the death of an inmate, it reviews the circumstances and notifies the police and the coroner.

No further details were provided, including cause of death.
