Mounties in Burnaby say two young men were stabbed in a fight early Monday morning near Gilmore Station.
According to the Burnaby RCMP, officers were called to the area after hearing reports of a fight between a group of youths near Dawson Street and Gilmore Avenue at around 1:00 a.m., not long after the calendar flipped to 2024.
Police say some reports described the youths using knives and pepper spray in the altercation.
Mounties explain that the majority of the youths were gone by the time they arrived, but the two stabbing victims were quickly found left behind. Police say they were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
“It appears that the two victims were fighting each other, however, both youths are uncooperative at this time,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj, noting that a knife, pepper spray, and a baton were seized by officers at the scene.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
