Could Metro Vancouver see record-breaking temps this weekend?

The mercury is set to rise, quickly, this weekend for much of B.C.’s South Coast as spring-like temperatures cover the region.
But by how much?
CityNews Meteorologist Michael Kuss explains there’s a chance Metro Vancouver could see some records fall.
“The [current] record temperatures away from the water are up in the low 20s. And we’re going to be up in the low 20s away from the water [this weekend], so I would not be shocked,” he said Thursday.
“In fact, I’m expecting at least some records to fall across the South Coast and eventually into the Interior too. This warm air doesn’t only punch into the southern and central Interior of B.C., it works all the way out and across Alberta over the next five to seven days.”
Kuss says the warm weather will really begin to hit the region Friday and stretch all the way into the early part of next week.
“Over the next five or six days, [they’re expected] to be in the mid-teens — 15, 16 degrees, so we’ll be right there near those record-highs. For inland, like Abbotsford, for example, record-highs are around 22 degrees. So, we’ll be right up against those numbers all the way through next Tuesday.”
With the warmer weather comes a stretch of dry days too, Kuss explains. While the region saw scattered showers on Wednesday, it’ll be clear for much of the coming week.
“It’s a dry stretch that could go out at least seven days, if not longer,” he said. “We’re not going to see any precipitation or even a chance for precipitation with this incredibly stagnant pattern until at the very earliest, the tail end of next week.”
