Surrey targeted shooting leaves 1 with minor injuries

An early morning shooting in Surrey on Wednesday injured one person, the Surrey RCMP says, after shots were fired at a car.

Mounties say the incident happened just before 12:30 a.m. along 66 Avenue the city’s Newton neighbourhood.

Police say that as officers were canvassing the area, healthcare workers from Surrey Memorial Hospital informed police that a man had attended hospital with gunshot wounds.

“Officers attended the hospital and spoke with the victim. Evidence consistent with a shooting was then located in the driveway of a residence and on a vehicle,” Corp. Sarbjit Sangha said in a statement.

“Police believe this was a targeted incident as the victim is also known to police. The victim has been uncooperative with investigators and sustained very minor injuries.”

Police are now asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police at 604-599-0502 and quote file #2024-100183.
