Charges have been approved against a man suspected of assaulting a Surrey taxi driver in June.
On June 22, the Surrey RCMP says it responded to a report of a man who had allegedly robbed a taxi driver and then damaged the vehicle before running from the scene.
Police say they found the suspect shortly after and arrested him without incident.
“He was later released pending further investigation,” Mounties said.
In September, police say two charges against the suspect were approved — assault with a weapon and mischief to property — and the 31-year-old suspect was arrested again.
“He was released by the courts with conditions which include no contact with the victim and not to be in possession of weapons,” Mounties said.
Police say the taxi driver “did not sustain any physical injuries” during the alleged robbery.
