Dec. 8 will be an enchanted night for a Burnaby girl, after she was gifted tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

Twelve-year-old Blayke Vandusen suffered from a rare chromosomal disorder, called Turner Syndrome, causing a host of health problems, including heart and kidney abnormalities.

“It was really tough going through a lot of stuff with Blayke over the years and we still face challenges everyday,” said Blayke’s mother, Cassandra Vandusen.

After numerous open-heart surgeries, Blayke fights everyday to make sure her condition doesn’t stop her from being herself. But Cassandra says the surprise tickets will lift her spirits.

“She’s had kind of a rough outlook on life, but I keep telling her to ‘think positive.’ And so this is one of those positive things that come, so I’m very excited for her.”

The 12-year-old has been working hard, trying to secure tickets for months. She’s been creating videos and writing letters to anyone who might listen.

Rogers, the parent company of CityNews, and the presenting sponsor of Taylor Swift The Eras Tour Canada, came across an Instagram reel documenting Blayke’s journey, hoping for the chance to attend the tour.

Blayke’s mom says she was in disbelief when she received the call from Rogers.

For a lifelong ‘Swiftie,’ who’s overcome a lot in life already, the gifted tickets will lead to a dream come true.

“I never thought I’d see her, so I’m really excited,” said Blayke.

Taylor Swift is scheduled to play three nights in Vancouver’s BC Place from Dec. 6 to Dec 8. The Dec. 8 show is currently the final performance scheduled, concluding the record-breaking Eras Tour.
