Rainfall warning issued for Metro Vancouver

If you’re heading out Friday to take part in any Taylor Swift-related activities, prepare for it to be a soggy one.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver as a “robust” system is set to hit the South Coast, expected to bring 50 to 70 millimetres of rain.

The warning covers Howe Sound, the North Shore, Metro Vancouver, parts of the Fraser Valley, and the Sea to Sky region.

“A robust and rain-laden frontal system will slide down the BC Coast today. Rain, at times heavy, will begin late this afternoon for Howe Sound and the Sea to Sky, and this evening for the remainder of the regions,” ECCC explained Friday.

“The heaviest rain will ease later Saturday morning as the frontal system passes through.”

The national weather service is warning of water pooling on roads and possible localized flooding due to blocked drains.

“If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead, and be prepared to stop,” it adds.
