BC Ferries cancels some Horseshoe Bay – Langdale sailings due to mechanical issue

A mechanical issue on the Queen of Surrey has forced some New Year’s Day BC Ferries sailings to be cancelled.
BC Ferries explains that a problem with the vessel’s propulsion system has forced the ferry to stay at the dock on Wednesday.

- 8:40 a.m. departing Langdale
- 9:45 a.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 10:50 a.m. departing Langdale
- 11:55 a.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 1:05 p.m. departing Langdale
- 2:10 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
BC Ferries says that travellers who have reservations for these bookings will be contacted directly by its Customer Service Centre.
“A service technician is currently working to resolve the issue. We will continue to provide updates to this notice as more information becomes available,” BC Ferries said.
“A water taxi is currently providing foot passenger service between Langdale and Horseshoe Bay and is operating in shuttle mode,” it continued.
“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations.”
The ferry service says it is currently working on finding a replacement vessel for the remaining sailings on Wednesday. As of 12 p.m., the next available sailings are the:
- 3:15 p.m. departing Langdale
- 4:20 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
