Saturday marks four years since the start of the investigation into the disappearance and subsequent death of a Port Moody woman.
Trina Hunt was reported missing by her husband on Jan. 18, 2021. About two months later, her body was found near Hope, though that wasn’t publicly made known until May of that year.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says investigators hearts are heavy as they remember Hunt this week.
“This is a tragic homicide that has had a huge impact on our community including the investigators who have been working tirelessly to advance this case,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.
Police say they’ve dedicated hundreds of hours of video analysis, dozens of interviews, and over 100 investigators to the case, but it remains open and no charges have been laid.
In August last year, Hunt’s family renewed calls for information, and its promise of a reward of up to $50,000 for anyone who can help bring justice to her name.
In a statement at the time, Hunt’s brother, Brad Ibbott, said the family had already gone far too long without answers.
“We are crushed that still today no one is in custody for the murder of Trina,” Ibbott said last year.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of support from our community and beyond, but our journey is far from over. We are still searching for answers, and we know someone out there has the key to help us bring those responsible to justice.”
IHIT offered its support to Hunt’s family and friends Thursday.
“We hear you and we’re with you. We continue to dedicate all necessary resources and will leave no stone unturned.”
