A man is being treated in hospital after a shooting in Delta early Monday morning.
The Delta Police Department says it responded to a report of a shooting on 112B Street near 81 Avenue just after 7 a.m., where officers then found the injured man.

In a statement, the DPD says it believes the burning truck is connected to the shooting.
“We’ll wait for definitive evidence to confirm that. But with this in mind, these events do have all the hallmarks of being involved in the gang conflict that has been occurring across the province over the last few years,” Acting Insp. James Sandberg told 1130 NewsRadio.

The DPD believes the shooting was targeted and there’s no danger to the public.
“This is somebody that is waiting to target a specific person for a specific reason,” said Sandberg adding that the vehicle arson was likely intended to destroy forensic evidence.
Officers will be going door-to-door to ask for information, the DPD says, and anyone with security footage of the area of the shooting or the fire is being urged to contact the Delta Police Department.
