The Surrey Police Service is on the scene after a fatal crash along Highway 10 Thursday morning.
Media Liaison Ian MacDonald says the “serious injury crash” happened at 144 Street and 56 Avenue.
1130 NewsRadio learned one person was killed, while another was taken to hospital in critical condition.
In a follow-up statement, Sgt. Tige Pollock said police first received reports of the crash around 7 a.m.
“SPS Frontline officers attended and despite life-saving medical intervention by Surrey Fire Service and BCEHS, an occupant one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at scene,” Pollock said.
According to Air Traffic Anchor Darren Grieve, a five-ton truck flipped on its side after colliding with another vehicle.

“We don’t see much sign of any kind of stopping,” Grieve explained. “There’s no skid marks on the road that we can see, at least not from up here, anyway.”
“So, it looks like the impact was fairly strong,” he added.
Highway 10 was closed westbound from 148 Street to King George Boulevard.
Cpl. Dave Noon says the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has also been deployed to the crash to investigate.
“There is no anticipated time for reopening the highway. Please avoid the area while we investigate,” Noon said on X.
In an update around 4:50 p.m., Drive BC announced Highway 10 had reopened.
The SPS says the collision remains under investigation, and “at this early stage, the primary contributing factor is unknown.”
Police are urging anyone with information about the fatal crash, including dashcam footage, to call the SPS at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-18170 (SP).
