A New Westminster man has been found guilty after a woman was violently attacked in 2023.
According to the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD), a woman with “numerous lacerations” got the attention of an officer on Royal Avenue around 7 a.m. on Oct. 6, 2023, saying she had been assaulted at a suite on Agnes Street.
Due to the extent of her injuries, the woman was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services.
The NWPD says multiple officers went to a building identified by the victim and arrested a suspect within “short order.”
In an update Wednesday, police say 34-year-old Ryan Jensen was found guilty of five charges last week, including one count of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, two counts of breaching a release order, and one count of killing or injuring an animal.
“A deceased cat was found inside the suite,” a police spokesperson explained to 1130 NewsRadio.
Jensen is expected back in court on Monday.
