The Surrey Police Service says a 39-year-old woman has been charged in relation to a house fire last week.
The fire broke out at a fourplex near 132nd A Street and 108th A Street around 8:45 p.m. on the night of Tuesday, May 6.
Police say while a neighbour tried to put out the fire with a garden hose, officers were able to help evacuate the home of “several residents.”
“As officers were searching the properties for additional residents who might be in danger and speaking with witnesses, a woman was detained and arrested as a suspect in connection with the fire,” police explained.
In an update Monday, the SPS says a 39-year-old woman is now facing one count of arson in relation to inhabited property.
She is reportedly still in custody and will appear in court Monday.
