A vacant house fire in Surrey’s Bridgeview neighbourhood kept crews busy early Friday morning.

Deputy Chief Shelley Morris tells 1130 NewsRadio that the fire service received reports of the blaze along 113A Avenue near 126A Street around 1:30 a.m.

“[Crews] arrived at a vacant home that was fully involved, and [it] had already started the adjacent homes on fire as well. So there were about three homes that were on fire,” she explained.

“Crews made their defensive attack and stopped the spread from the two buildings that were adjacent, but it was fully involved in the vacant home,” Morris added.

The deputy chief explains that those living in the two adjacent homes have been displaced, but they all have a place to stay for the next few days.

“About 30 firefighters and about nine apparatus were on scene. The fire is struck out at this time, and crews are just cleaning up and releasing from the scene,” Morris said.

No injuries have been reported, she added. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
