An anti-Trump protest held outside Vancouver’s American consulate building Saturday saw hundreds of demonstrators from both sides of the border come together to express their anger and frustration.
This comes the same day that hundreds of “No Kings” rallies were held in cities across the United States, with Americans decrying Donald Trump’s military parade — that coincided with his birthday — and his policies.
CityNews spoke to some Americans at Vancouver’s event.

“I was on a cruise with my family in Alaska, and I’m glad we got here off this ship in time to protest today,” one demonstrator said.
“My family are actually visiting from North Carolina, USA,” another said.
“My family and I are very against everything Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and what the U.S. government is doing.”
Protestors were calling out the Trump administration’s attacks on Canadian sovereignty, the heightened tensions in the Middle East, and the U.S. government’s controversial ICE raids.
Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles in response to protests against immigration raids and deportations has sparked outrage and instilled fear among Americans.
Many Americans who made the trip across the border say the relationship between Canada and the U.S. will likely never be the same again.
“We’re in shock and disgust at how America has been interacting with Canada, one of our closest allies for so long, since the inception,” one said.
“I’m not sure where the future is going from here, but I don’t want y’all to be our 51st state.”
Other anti-Trump protests were held at Jack Poole Plaza, as well as the Vancouver Art Gallery, with a similar turnout and messaging.
