Driver strikes pedestrian in South Surrey

An intersection in South Surrey is closed Wednesday afternoon after a driver struck and injured a pedestrian.

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says 152 Street and 24 Avenue will remain closed to traffic as officers investigate.

Callers to 1130 NewsRadio first reported the incident causing delays around 2 p.m.

That’s when police say the Surrey RCMP support unit responded to reports that a driver had struck an adult male pedestrian.

Paramedics transported the victim to hospital in “serious, but not life-threatening” condition.

“The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor,” said the SPS in a release around 3 p.m.

Witnesses or anyone who may have any information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, are asked to please call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-37583 (SU).

Drivers can take King George Boulevard or 32nd Avenue, which turns into 148 Street, to avoid the area.
