Abbotsford police: woman safe after video shared of parking lot struggle

After a distressing incident was caught on video in an Abbotsford parking lot Sunday night, police say they have identified a woman involved.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m.

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says it received a call about a woman screaming in the Cabela’s parking lot at McCallum Road and Cornwall Avenue. But when officers arrived, nothing was found.

Late Monday, police released security video obtained by investigators.

The video shows a woman getting out of a pickup truck in the parking lot, followed by the driver — a man — who tries to stop her.

“Out of concern for the wellbeing of the female, investigators are now releasing the CCTV footage to the public and appealing for assistance in identifying the vehicle and the individuals involved,” said Walker at the time.

Then late Monday night, AbbyPD said they had tracked the woman down.

“Thanks everyone for the assistance tonight. As a result of everyone’s effort’s we have been able to locate the female involved in this incident. She is safe and is speaking with investigators.”
