Chilliwack teen arrested after man threatened with fake gun

A 17-year-old from Chilliwack is facing potential weapons charges after Mounties say he threatened a man with a fake gun.
The Chilliwack RCMP says the victim reported being approached by a group of youths near the intersection of Teskey Way and Promontory Road just before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived, the suspects ran, leading to a chase.
Police eventually arrested three suspects, including a teen matching the victim’s description.
“A search of the suspect revealed a tan replica Glock 19X handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants,” Mounties explained Thursday, adding they were unsure if the weapon was real.
“Thankfully, no injuries were reported.”
The Chilliwack RCMP is recommending charges including assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The teen suspect has since been released to a guardian and is awaiting a court date.
