Thousands took part in the annual CIBC Run for the Cure in Vancouver Sunday, joining more than 60,000 participants across Canada.
This year’s event took in more than $18 million nationwide to fund breast cancer research, advocacy, and support services, according to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The annual event caused road closures and other delays around and near downtown Vancouver for several hours, from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m.
A full road closure was in effect on Pacific, Quebec, 6th Avenue, and the Cambie Street Bridge northbound.
The event began at 7:45 a.m. at Concord Community Park on Pacific Boulevard.
