In an update Monday, Mounties say a Chilliwack RCMP officer was travelling northbound in a fully-marked police vehicle when she collided head-on with the driver of a Lincoln sedan.

The officer then reportedly activated her emergency button.

“Three ambulances responded to the scene,” the Provincial Health Services (PHSA) told CityNews in a statement.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and transported two patients to hospital in stable condition.”

The RCMP claims the sedan driver had crossed into the northbound lanes before the collision.

Mounties also claimed, “Witness statements taken at the scene suggest that speed and erratic driving by the Lincoln driver were contributing factors. Alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the collision.”

Police say the officer remains in stable condition in hospital Monday. The sedan driver, a 29-year-old Chilliwack man, was reportedly treated for minor injuries and released.

“The collision remains under investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.”
