4 arrested after illegal border crossings into Canada

In a cooperation between Canadian and U.S. law enforcement, four people were arrested after an alleged illegal border crossing last month.

The RCMP says the group was crossing into Canada from the U.S. near Northwoods Road in Lynden, Wash. and 0 Avenue in Abbotsford on Oct. 8.

Three suspects fled on foot into Canada while being pursued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.

Once the officers located the suspects, they handed them over to the Canadian authorities.

The driver involved was also located and arrested shortly after.

The Canada Border Services Agency started its investigation into the incident under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
