After a fatal collision in the city’s Downtown Eastside on Sunday evening, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is asking witnesses to come forward.

According to the VPD, a 62-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after a crash near East Hastings Street and Jackson Avenue at approximately 7:23 p.m.

The man was crossing the street as a pedestrian when the driver of a red Kia SUV struck him.

The BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics arrived in two ambulances, but no one required transportation to the hospital.

The driver remained on the scene, and the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.
