Vancouver’s Burrard Bridge closing Sunday morning for construction crane removal

The Burrard Bridge is set to close in both directions Sunday between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. due to the removal of a large crane at the construction site on the Kitsilano side.
The bridge closure was also in effect Saturday morning.

While all vehicle lanes will be closed, the east side bicycle lane will remain open for cyclists travelling northbound.
Pedestrians will be able to cross the bridge only on the east side sidewalk as well.
“If you are travelling in and around the area this weekend, including sport fans heading to Rugby Sevens at BC Place, plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey,” the statement read.
“VPD traffic control personnel will be on site to support the public throughout the closure.”
The closure also applies to buses, which will be rerouted.
The residential towers construction in the Kitsilano neighbourhood, also known as the Sen̓áḵw development, is located on 10.5 acres of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).
According to the nation, it is the largest Indigenous-led housing and retail development in the history of Canada and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.
