A 29-year-old man has been charged after a shooting death in Surrey over the weekend, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said Monday.
Surrey Police Service (SPS) members were called to a home on Laurel Drive near 139th Street around 1:40 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports of shots fired.
When they arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect has been charged with manslaughter with a weapon in relation to this incident.
“Investigators believe this was an isolated incident, where the victim and the accused were known to each other,” IHIT said.
“The investigation is ongoing; however, the incident is not believed to be related to gang activity or extortion.”
The name of the victim, who is also 29 years old, has not been released.
The suspect remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
