Suspect in custody after Surrey woman shot from outside home

A man has been charged in relation to a shooting at a Surrey home in November last year.

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) responded to reports of shots fired outside a home near Scott Road shortly after 9 p.m. on Nov. 23, 2025.

In a statement the next morning, police confirmed one person, a woman, had been injured.

“An adult female who had been struck by a bullet that came from the outside into the inside of the house. She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She remains in hospital and is expected to fully recover, thankfully,” Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said.

In an update Friday, the SPS says its Major Crime Section took over the investigation and later identified a suspect and a suspect vehicle.

“Search warrants were obtained, and the subsequent vehicle search located a firearm. It was determined that this firearm was involved in the Nov. 23, 2025, shooting.”

Police say the suspect was spotted in Vancouver on Wednesday and arrested.

A 31-year-old man has since been charged with six criminal offences including:

  • Discharging a firearm into a place, knowing or being reckless as to whether another person was present in the place;
  • Using of a firearm, while committing, attempting to commit, or during a flight after committing or attempting to commit, the indictable offence of recklessly discharging a firearm at a place;
  • Carrying or having in his possession a firearm for a purpose dangerous to the public peace or for the purpose of committing an offence;
  • Possessing a prohibited firearm, restricted firearm or non-restricted firearm, knowing that he was not the holder of a licence under which he may possess the firearm or knowing that he was not the holder of a registration certificate for a firearm;
  • Possessing a firearm while he was prohibited from doing so;
  • And possessing a firearm knowing that a serial number on it had been altered, defaced or removed.

He reportedly remains in custody and is expected in court Friday.

Police did not provide an update on the victim’s condition but added that she had been shot in the thigh.
