Youth arrested after two street robberies in Abbotsford

A minor was arrested Thursday in connection with two Abbotsford area armed robberies.

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says the first incident took place around 2:40 p.m. on April 14 near the intersection of Maclure Road and Trethewey Street.

The second took place around 8 p.m. on April 30 along Discovery Trail near Abbotsford Exhibition Park.

Both incidents reportedly involved a lone male suspect who produced a gun and demanded the victims’ jewelry.

Both victims were reportedly uninjured.

In an update Tuesday, the AbbyPD says investigators identified a suspect and carried out a search warrant at a home on May 14.

Given the suspect’s age, details are limited, but police report having made an arrest and found the suspect vehicle.

The department says no further details will be released.
