Police arrest suspect after teen girl assaulted near Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal

The West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) says that police have arrested a suspect who allegedly assaulted a teenage girl close to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal on Monday.
Police say the girl was walking southbound on Keith Road near Douglas Street shortly before 3:30 p.m. on June 3 when the man, who was walking northbound, tried to wrap his arms around her as she passed.

After going through CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses, police were able to identify a suspect.
“The suspect, who is not local to West Vancouver, is described as a heavy-set man in his fifties with a bushy grey beard,” they said.
According to police. the man was taken into custody on Vancouver Island. He is scheduled to appear in North Vancouver Provincial Court on Sept. 9.

Police believe this was an isolated incident.
