Senior pedestrian hospitalized after downtown collision: Vancouver police

A 70-year-old man has been hospitalized after police say he was struck by a vehicle in downtown Vancouver on Saturday morning.

According to the Vancouver Police Department, it happened at 9 a.m. while the man was crossing West Georgia Street at Cardero Street. Police say he was hit by a dark blue Mini Cooper that had been travelling east on West Georgia Street. Police confirm the driver is cooperating with investigators.

The man was taken to the hospital where police say he “remains in recovery.”

Const. Tania Visintin says investigators are hoping to speak with several pedestrians and vehicles that were in the area at the time.

“We are asking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to get in touch with investigators as quickly as possible,” she said.

Investigators can be contacted at 604-717-3012.
