One year later: Police give update on Wendy Ladner-Beaudry’s death

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Almost a year has now passed since the body of Wendy Ladner-Beaudry was found in Pacific Spirit Park near UBC. Today, police give more insight into the unsolved case.

Just about a year ago, the entrance to Pacific Spirit Park was a crime scene as officers scoured for clues.  At 10:30 this morning they will be back but this time with an update which includes a new investigative technique and a message from the Ladners.

This case has touched the lives of so many, including those who run the trails and walk their dogs. A year later, attitudes about personal safety may have changed but there is also a strong commitment to taking back the park.

One woman we spoke with near 41st and Camosun says, “I don’t want to be made to feel unsafe just because something like that happened. I think that is a waste because it is such a nice park. It’s unfortunate.”

Police have never said how Wendy Ladner-Beaudry was killed. We do know that she died in a busy park, in the middle of the afternoon.

Ladner-Beaudry left behind a husband and two daughters and was well-known for her work with the youth sports.
