A hero’s welcome for soccer star Christine Sinclair
RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – Hundreds of screaming fans greeted 16 BC Olympians as they landed at YVR from London.
The crowds were definitely cheering loudest when soccer star Christine Sinclair roll through.
Crowds singing “Oh Canada” waved flags as Sinclair walked into the International Arrivals area with a huge smile on her face.

She tells News1130 she was warned about getting a warm welcome.
“They’re like ‘Just wait till you see when you come home,'” she says. “I don’t think any of us expected this.”
Aside from the triumphant bronze medal finish with her team, Sinclair says carrying Canada’s flag at the closing ceremony is something she’ll never forget.
“It was the hugest honour, walking out into the stadium with 80,000 fans, holding the Canadian flag up,” she recalls. “It was incredible.”
Sinclair adds that after some time with family, it’s back to training for Rio 2016.
