Good Night Out campaign comes to Vancouver
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – An international movement tackling sexual harassment is coming to Vancouver, the first place in Canada to try the Good Night Out campaign.
Women have been experiencing non-consensual contact when they go out at night explains Stacey Forrester with Hollaback Vancouver. She says they hope to help train staff to properly address those kind of situations. “Good Night Out came from an influx of stories we had received through the Hollaback site about harassment taking place particularly in clubs and drinking establishments.”
Forrester says local venues have been reaching out to see how they can participate. “We are really going to focus on the assessment piece so going in and finding out what clubs are doing well but also what they need some support in to better deal with harassment culture within their premises.”

She adds they will report their findings back to management and arrange workshops to train the staff on any suggested changes.
Participating venues will receive training and will have to pass a safety audit before they are able to display the “Good Night Out” sticker on their front door.
